Save your Phone; use this instead
CarPlay screen for motorcycle;
Save your phone, use this screen instead. Having your phone on the handlebar is convenient, but also exposes it to rain, dust, incessant vibrations, and loads of direct sunlight. Keep your phone in your pocket and let this device do the "grunt work".
Connection is straight forward with three wire connections.
Once connected, and ACC on, connect to CarPlay as you would anywhere else.
Simple and direct install, literally replaces your phone's exposure while keeping full access.

Easy installation and instant connection
Installation was very easy, unfortunately the display isn't removable. However, it's securely and securely screwed in. Connecting to my iPhone was very easy and worked right away.
My trusty old Dominator has thus entered a new era.

Finally no more 1000 on the handlebars
For the past few years, I've always used my smartphone with a handlebar mount for touring and listening to music. But despite the solid mount (SP Connect), I was always concerned that I was exposing 1,000 to extreme winds, vibrations, rain, and rockfall just for a bit of plastic (case/adhesive mount). So far, it's "only" cost me a smartphone, but those worries are over now!
I finally installed the display and tried it out on a short trip, and it's definitely worth the money. The Android Auto interface is so much more convenient to use than the standard "on-foot" interface, and the display responds reliably even with gloves on which wasn't the case with my smartphone's touchscreen.
My smartphone is connected to the display and my Cardo PackTalk, so the music comes directly from the smartphone, but I can control playback on the display with a nice, large interface. While the integration of Google Maps is the primary purpose, the split screen with a large map and a small music control panel next to it is the perfect "command center." Of course, you also get notifications if someone sends you a message. The concept of Android Auto itself is absolutely brilliant. Signal strength doesn't seem to be an issue, even if you have your smartphone in your back pocket, meaning your body is already shielding it.
The actual installation is relatively straightforward, although I was missing one of the two M4 screws used to attach the clamp to the handlebar. Not a big problem, as I still had a few black M4x20 screws on hand but the manufacturer should take another look to make sure this doesn't happen again.
So, I mounted and aligned it, tightened the locking screw on the arm, and the thing sits rock solid even at high speeds. Yes, of course, it would be nice if you could "simply" remove it, but then anyone else could do that... and it's better to have it permanently installed than to forget it outside once and have someone else enjoy it.
The wiring was also no problem: I shortened the included cable considerably, leaving only about 10 cm behind the connector, then routed the end of the device neatly behind the headlight mask (don't forget the cable ties) and reconnected it to the shortened end of the cable. I fitted the cable ends with connectors and connected them to the existing power supply (ACC1 = constant plus and ground, ACC2 = ignition plus).
Ignition on, and hey presto, it starts up super quickly and connects to the smartphone (after pairing, of course). Ignition off, the display turns off, and even pauses the music that was playing from the smartphone to the Cardo another very practical feature. Ignition back on, and off we go.
So it really works exactly as you'd hope.
The only improvement I would have: either include a longer ball-and-socket arm, or at least offer it as an option. I'd like the display to be exactly centered on the handlebar, but unfortunately that doesn't work with the short arm and my handlebar clamp. So it's a little further to the left now, which doesn't affect its functionality, but the option would have been nice.
Nevertheless: I love this display and hope it lasts for many years... at least longer than my smartphone. ?
